WEEK TOUR WITH YOUR OWN DOG SLED
Join us on a fantastic journey of a lifetime through the stunning surreal Lappish interior. You run your own team of dogs.
On the day of arrival, we will pick you up from your desired address in Kiruna C and take you to our base in Laxforsen, which is located just outside Kiruna, not far from Jukkasjärvi. We provide warm clothes (shoes, overalls, warm cap and gloves), sleeping bag with sheets, towel. Your own clothes for the tour should be durable and warm – and don't forget long warm underwear and socks.
When you are changed and have packed for the tour, we have a briefing on how to handle the sled and dogs so that you feel safe taking care of your dog sled. Before we harness the dogs, we have lunch in a Sami tipi at the kennel.
When we and the dogs are ready and the start signal for the tour goes, the dogs will stop barking and all you will hear is the sound of the sled and the breathing of the dogs. With our Huskies we will guide you on a tour of the amazing Lapland in Jukkasjärvi and Torne River surroundings through forest sections often covered by shiny snow and over frozen lakes. The goal for the day is our wilderness camp, which was built in 2016 and has a guest cottage that is about 50 m2 with a living room, kitchen and a bedroom for 6-8 people. There is also a sauna and barbecue hut. The camp does not have any electricity or running water. The water is collected from a nearby lake. Dry toilets are available outdoors.
When we get to the camp, we begin to take care of the dogs, fetch water from the lake and prepare the sauna for a bath. The guide and guests help each other with the work in the camp. You get a wholepicture of life in the wilderness without all the modernity.
We go on day trips from the camp and return in the evening. We have lunch out in nature and we take different trails every day. After 6 nights at our wilderness camp we return to the kennel. There we take farewell of the dogs and check you in at a hotel in town. There you have the opportunity to breathe a sigh of relief until we meet for a closing meal.
The week tour can be booked starting on 23 January 2023 until 29 January.
Transfer: Pick-up at 09.00 from Kiruna C.
Price includes: Full board, accommodation 6 nights on the wilderness camp and last night at the hotel, transfer, dogs and warm clothes for the tour, sleeping bag, towel and headlamp.
